Okay, so, you know, we've been talking about faith a lot, and it's something we all have, right? Whether we really think about it or not. I mean, your whole way of seeing the world, it's kind of built on believing in things you can't, like, see or prove. That's what I've been trying to get across this whole time.
So, like, is your faith, you know, is it leading you in the right direction, or is it kind of... off? Is your worldview, like, really broad and encompassing, or is it kind of narrow? What do you put your faith in, really?
So I thought, hey, let's do a little test, you know? Just to get a sense of how your worldview lines up with what I'd consider, you know, a really solid, well-grounded worldview. And yeah, it's the kind of thing I was talking about before, so.
So, here's how it works. I'm gonna read out some statements. Just answer true or false, honestly. And then, you know, after you've done all the questions, you can, like, compare your answers to the key and see how you did. Give yourself one point for each answer that matches, and then add up all your points to get your total score, okay?
Then, you're gonna multiply that total score by five. That'll give you your "Truth Score," which is supposed to be, like, a rating of how well your reality lines up with, you know, absolute reality, whatever that is. Think of it as a reality check, you know? So, like, if your total score was, say, 14, then you multiply that by five, and you get a Truth Score of 70. That means, roughly, that 70% of your reality lines up with absolute reality.
And then, here's the fun part. You take that Truth Score and you subtract it from 125. That gives you your "Titanic Score," which is a measure of how likely your worldview is to, well, sink your ship when you're facing a, you know, a *Titanic* Moment, a big, life-changing event. So, if your Truth Score was 70, you subtract that from 125, and you get 55. That means you'd have, roughly, a 55% chance of making a bad decision, a misinformed decision, that could, you know, harm you when you're up against it.
Now, if you've, you know, been paying attention, reading carefully, you should hopefully score pretty well. But if you don't, don't worry, it's okay. I've included references for each question, so you can always go back and, you know, brush up on those topics.
And look, most importantly, just answer honestly, okay? Don't answer the way you think you *should* answer. Answer the way you really feel.
Alright, so here we go. Ready?
1. Objective, universal, absolute truth does not exist. True or False?
2. Faith has no role in hard-core logic and science. True or False?
3. Space and time are perfect examples of subjective reality. True or False?
4. There is nothing really unique about humans; we’re basically like any other animal species. True or False?
5. Mathematicians have shown it is possible to prove that God exists. True or False?
6. “Seeing is believing” is a much wiser way to live than “believing is seeing.” True or False?
7. Science has no need for God. True or False?
8. Faith is a potent, natural ability. True or False?
9. Science and Atheism are more intellectually compatible than science and Christianity. True or False?
10. Sometimes opposites can both be true. True or False?
11. A wise person should never doubt the credibility of a scientific consensus. True or False?
12. If something is not logical, it’s nonsense and should not be believed. True or False?
13. Our telescopes are now powerful enough to see 95 percent of what’s out there in the universe. True or False?
14. The more science learns about the universe, the more supernatural and mysterious it appears. True or False?
15. Science has pretty much proven that life on Earth began when molecules assembled themselves into a simple, self-replicating organism. True or False?
16. There is credible evidence that the universe was designed for life. True or False?
17. Faith is a crutch for people who can’t think logically and can’t stomach the truth. True or False?
18. There are absolute truths that cannot be proved. True or False?
19. Scientific experiments are objective ways of getting at the truth. True or False?
20. You and I are logical paradoxes. True or False?
Okay, so, you know, go back through, make sure you've answered everything. And then, let's check the answers. Okay, so:
1. False
2. False
3. True
4. False
5. False
6. False
7. True
8. True
9. False
10. True
11. False
12. False
13. False
14. True
15. False
16. True
17. False
18. True
19. False
20. True
Alright, so add up your score, multiply by five, subtract from 125... and there you have it. Your Titanic Score.
Now, remember that 125 number? That's kind of an arbitrary baseline. It's just there to show that, you know, even if you have a perfect worldview, even if your reality lines up perfectly with objective reality, there's still gonna be a chance you'll make a bad decision, right? Life's just like that. So, even with, like, an ideal worldview, you're still probably gonna behave somewhere between perfectly and randomly.
Anyway, hope that was helpful. It's just something to think about, you know?
